    Days 1-2: Game Viewing in the Masai Mara

    Departing Nairobi, climb over the outer boundary of the Rift Valley Escarpment and descend to the Valley floor heading to the edge of the Masai Mara Nature Reserve. Along the way, you should be able to see the local Maasai as they tend to their cattle on the roadside. 

    Spend the whole next day driving around this world-famous reserve searching for the Big 5 – elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo, and leopard. Depending on the time of year, you may even get to witness the Great Annual Migration.

    Day 3: Camping on the Shores of Lake Victoria

    After leaving the Masai Mara in the morning, travel through scenic tea plantations towards Africa’s biggest lake, Lake Victoria. Stop in the coastal town of Kisumu for the night, so you can replenish your supplies. Wander down to the harbour to check out the local life in the afternoon.

    Day 3: Checking Out the Life in Kampala

    Today you cross the border into Uganda as you drive to the capital, Kampala for an overnight stay. Along the way, take your photo at the equator as you cross from the south to the north. The rest of the day will be yours to enjoy and explore this vibrant town.

    Days 5-8: Trekking with the Gorillas

    An early departure from Kampala has you travelling through the southern part of Uganda to the stunning Lake Bunyoni. Home to a variety of birds, Lake Bunyoni is the deepest Crater Lake in Africa.

    Over the next three days, optionally depart from the camp in small groups to track these incredible animals in their natural habitat. The focus will be to track the mountain gorillas of Uganda, but depending on permit availability, you may have to venture into the DRC or Rwanda. 

    On the days you are not trekking, you have a choice of optional activities. Visit a local village, hike in the surrounding hills to search for birds, or head to Kabale and do some shopping in the local markets.

    Day 9: Crossing the Equator in Uganda

    Once everyone has had their chance to trek with the gorillas, say goodbye to the serenity of Lake Bunyoni and return to Kampala for the night. Your journey back will take you across the equator again allowing for another straddling the equator photo opportunity.

    Day 10: Rafting Down the Nile River

    This morning you have the choice of visiting the Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary, or traveling to the town of Jinja on the northern shore of Lake Victoria. Depending on your choice, you may have time to raft on the White Nile River – the same Nile that flows all the way to Egypt – or to partake in another adventure activity.

    Days 11-12:Seeing Pink in Lake Nakuru

    Following breakfast, cross back into Kenya as you drive to the town of Nakuru – Kenya’s 4th largest town, and the gateway to the Lake Nakuru National Park.

    The next day experience this fascinating park that is famous for the vast number of pink flamingos that reside along the shoreline of the lake. At times, these bright birds turn the lake pink. Spend the whole day in the park searching for wildlife, other than the flamingo. There are black and white rhinos, lions, leopards, and buffalo within the park’s boundary. Following your time in the park, head south to one of the highest lakes in the Rift Valley, Lake Naivasha.

    Day 13:Biking Through Hell’s Gate NP

    Enjoy the day to explore this fascinating area on a variety of optional activities. Take a boat transfer to the Crescent Island Game Sanctuary, or explore the nearby Hell’s Gate National Park on a bike. Your evening will be spent at the camp site next to the lake.

    Day 14:Ending Your Tour in Nairobi

    This morning you make the final trek to Nairobi where your tour will end upon arrival.
