    Day 1: Heading North to the Cederberg

    Today your adventure begins as you head north out of Cape Town for the Cederberg mountain range. Take the opportunity during the journey to get to know your fellow travelers as you make your way to these sandstone and Shale Mountains famous for their stunning rock formations.

    Day 2: Cruising Down the Orange River

    Continue north through the big sky country of the Namaqualand towards the Orange River. Depending on the year, this region is transformed from a semi-arid region to one vibrant colour when millions of wild flowers cover the countryside.

    After a stop in Springbok to do some shopping and stretch your legs, arrive at the banks of the Orange River where you’ll set up camp. Spend the evening chatting around a campfire.

    Day 3: Looking in on the Fish River Canyon

    Take the morning to float down the Orange River on an exciting canoe trip, or if you wish just relax on the riverbank and swim. The river, which is also called the Gariep in the Nama region, runs through some of the most beautiful regions of the world.

    In the afternoon, load the truck back up, and journey to the remarkable Fish River Canyon – the second largest canyon in the world – for an opportunity to wander around the rim of this breathtaking canyon. 

    Later, head to Ai-Ais and check in to your accommodation with the rest of the night yours to enjoy the hot springs.

    Day 4: Seeing Red in the Kalahari

    Today travel into the Kalahari area to visit the Kokerboom Forest and its famous quiver trees. Through the ages, it is believed that these trees were used by the local Khoisan people to make quivers for their arrows.

    Afterwards, you can go on an optional tour of the historic sights on the farm that your guesthouse owns.

    Day 5: Making Your Way to Sossusvlei

    This morning spend some time with the local !Xung (San) people before you head towards the massive red dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib-Naukluft National Park – one of the oldest deserts in the world.

    Tonight you’ll spend the night preparing for your visit to these impressive natural phenomena as you stay just outside the park.

    Day 6: Climbing Mighty Dune 45

    Begin your day with an early wake up as you head into the Namib-Naukluft National Park to the area of Sossusvlei and the opportunity to climb the well-known Dune 45. Joined by a local guide, you’ll have the chance to wander around the area and learn about the area’s ecosystem.

    Later in the afternoon, you get the chance to hike into the Sesriem Canyon – another natural phenomenon – before returning to Hammerstein for the night.

    Days 7-8: Getting Your Heart Pumping in Swakopmund

    Enjoy the dramatic drive through the Namib Desert and the unique moon-like landscape of the Kuiseb Valley to the coastal town of Swakopmund. On the way stop in Walvis Bay at its renowned lagoon and many flamingos. 

    Continue on to the idyllic, historic town of Swakopmund for some adrenalin activities, such as sand-boarding, quad-biking, and skydiving, or just wander the streets visiting a few of the shops and cafes over the next two days.

    Day 9: Heading to the Kamanjab

    Head up the Atlantic coast for a short time before turning inland towards the Kamanjab in the north west of Namibia.

    Depending on time, you’ll have the chance today, or tomorrow morning to meet with the Himba people who are a semi-nomadic group who are recognised by their unique dress.

    Days 10-11: Exploring Etosha National Park

    An early start sees you on your way to Namibia’s premier game park – Etosha National Park – home to over 550 bird, reptile and mammal species, including close to 3000 elephants.

    Experience some fantastic game drives as you explore this stunning park visiting the various waterholes observing the wildlife as they come for a drink. 

    Enjoy a delicious dinner around the fire, before wandering over to the lodge’s floodlit waterhole – sometimes the scene for a dramatic nocturnal ambush.

    Day 12: Exploring Etosha National Park

    AAfter a game drive as you leave the park, begin your journey to Windhoek, the capital and a city known for its blend of innovative modern architecture with the old German colonialism.

    Along the way, stop at a local craft market to do some last minute shopping of authentic curios.

    Though your tour ends upon arrival in Windhoek, you may want to arrange one last dinner out with your group to say goodbye. An evening at Joe’s Beer House (own expense) is nice a choice to try many of the different types of local meats.
