Begin your safari adventure with an optional evening game drive in the concession.
Days 2-3: Experiencing the Kruger National Park
Today you get up early for a visit to the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre to learn about the wildlife you’ll see on your safaris. In the afternoon, embark on an afternoon game drive in the world-renowned Kruger National Park to search for the Big 5.
The following day will be a full day of game viewing from your overland truck as you explore this wonderful park searching for the animals you missed yesterday afternoon. In the evening book an evening game drive with a ranger and observe the nocturnal creatures as they begin their day.
Days 4-5: Hiking Around the Mlilwane Nature Reserve
After a morning game drive, you’ll say goodbye to Kruger as you make your way to the landlocked kingdom of Swaziland. Spend the next two nights at the Mlilwane Nature Reserve exploring the area on foot as a way to appreciate the scenic beauty as well as the animals. On the second evening following dinner, experience some unique Swazi traditional dancing.
Day 6: Cruising the iSimangaliso Wetland Park
Leaving Swaziland by means of a scenic drive, you’ll re-enter South Africa and head to the northern Natal coast, and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. After a moment to rest, board a boat for an included sunset cruise around the wetlands to view the variety of birds and hippos.
Day 7: Enjoying Some Curry in Durban
This morning make your way to the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve for a half-day game drive in an open vehicle. Keep your eyes open for the Big 5, as the park is the only state-run park in Natal to have the Big 5.
Arrive in South Africa’s 2nd largest city, Durban, in the late afternoon. Spend the evening exploring the city, and maybe having dinner at an authentic curry restaurant.
Days 8-9: Climbing the Drakensberg Mountains
Your journey takes you inland the Royal Natal National Park in the Drakensberg region – South Africa’s highest mountain range – where you’ll stay for the next two nights. Explore these impressive mountains on either foot or horseback. Your guide will take you on a lovely hike, if you choose not to do the optional horse riding.
Days 10-11: Pony Trekking in the Hills of Lesotho
Today you’ll travel along a long but scenic route to the mountainous kingdom of Lesotho where after crossing the border, you’ll ascend to your rural accommodations for the night. The next day, you can head out on an optional Pony Trek to explore the remote hills and take in the breathtaking views around the lodge. Those that don’t wish to do the trek, can visit a local village and their school.
Days 12-13: Checking Out Middle Earth in Hogsback
This morning you drive back into South Africa as you make your way to the stunning Hogsback Valley. Some claim that this area was JRR Tolkein’s inspiration for his stories as he lived here as a child.
On your second day, you can take a guided hike up to the Swallow Falls, Bridal Veil Falls or the Madonna and Child Falls, or you may choose to simply relax and enjoy the view from your accommodation.
Day 14: Searching for Elephants in Addo

Days 15-16: Getting Above the Trees in Tsitsikamma
Following an early morning game drive in search of elephants, you continue west to the start of the Garden Route – the Tsitsikamma National Park. Meaning ‘place of abundant water,’ the park will not let you down, with it’s indigenous forests and stunning coastline.
Spend the next two nights exploring this wonderful area of South Africa. You can choose to hike the initial portion of the Otter Trail, explore the forests from above by partaking in a treetop canopy tour, or maybe you want a little adrenalin rush by bungee jumping off the world’s highest commercial bungee bridge.

A short drive will get you to your destination today – Keurbooms River, near Plettenberg Bay. Your accommodation is situated on the river and close to a secluded beach where you might want to wander off to, to relax. Otherwise book an excursion to Knysna to explore this quaint little town famous for its lagoon.
Day 18: Exploring the Cango Caves
Your journey continues through the Outeniqua Mountains inland to the town of Oudtshoorn. Along the way, you could partake in the Outeniqua Power Van – its a 3 hour round trip tour of the old coastal railway. Once in Oudtshoorn, you’ll get to visit the famous Cango Caves, and take a guided tour of the stunning caves, and the limestone formations.
Day 19: Sipping Wine in Stellenbosch
Traveling along the picturesque Route 62, you’ll drive to the town of Stellenbosch and the centre of South Africa’s wine region. Spend the afternoon touring this historic European settlement marveling at the architecture and small town feel. In the evening, head to one of the local restaurants for a final group dinner.
