    Day 1: Spotting Hippos at Lake Mburo National Park

    This morning you’ll be picked up at the Cassia Lodge near Entebbe for your journey to Lake Mburo National Park in the south-western part of Uganda. Along the way, you can stop a t a local drum market and at the Equator for a photo.

    Arrive in the afternoon as you enter the park and camp along the lake shore. Lake Mburo is well-known for its open plains and large hippo population.

    Day 2: Driving to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

    Begin the day with a game drive before leaving the park for the long travel day toward the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Today’s drive will be through rolling hills and along rough mountain roads as you pass beautiful banana plantations and remote villages.

    Days 3-4: Trekking With the Mountain Gorillas

    The next two days will be the highlight of your tour as you will spend one of them trekking to view the mountain gorillas. Two days have been set aside for this activity as there is a limited number of permits and depending on the size of your group, two days maybe necessary. 

    On the day that you are not trekking, enjoy the opportunity to visit a local village, wandering the forest around the camp, or visit the stunning deep crater lake, Lake Bunyoni.

    Days 5-6: Searching For Tree-Climbing Lions

    Say ‘goodbye’ to the gorillas you travel north to the grassy plains of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Spend two nights camping in a remote part of the park as you embark on a few game drives searching for tree-climbing lions and the other wildlife.

    Day 7: Hiking the Kyambura Gorge

    Wake up early and drive through the Maramagambo Forest, keeping an eye open for chimpanzees and some stunning birds. In the afternoon, hike with a local guide into the Kyambura Gorge to visit a family of wild chimpanzees. Tonight you’ll set up camp near the Kyambura Gorge.

    Day 8: Climbing the Rwenzori Mountains

    Continue north to a local community centre at the base of the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains – Mountains of the Moon. After set up camp at the centre, enjoy a hike past rural villages and through the mountain forest to the Rwenzori lookout point to get a breathtaking view of the snow covered peaks.

    Day 9: Journeying to the Murchison Falls National Park

    Setting out early, you leave the highlands behind and venture through lush green tea plantations as you make your way to Murchison Falls National Park. Today is a long day as you need to cover a vast distance over some rough roads. 

    Your stop for the night will be the Kaniyo-Pabidi Camp, which is managed by Jane Goodall Institute. Tonight, you’ll also stay in a bit of comfort as you trade in your tent for a cabin. You may also partake in another trek to see the chimpanzees nearby (own expense).

    Day 10: Cruise Down the Nile River

    This morning travel to the top of the Falls and explore the area as you watch the Nile River fall nearly 40m into the Rift Valley. Afterwards, drive down the river and board a boat to embark on a game cruise as you motor to your bush camp site along the Nile River.

    Day 11: Learning About Rhinos at Ziwa

    After a slow start to the day by enjoying the river, you’ll return to your overland truck and make your way to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This project was established to help rhino be reintroduced into their original habitat though in protected areas.

    Days 12-13: Ending Your Tour in Jinja

    In the morning you have the choice of optionally tracking rhinos on foot before breaking camp and journeying to Jinja. Tonight, you’ll get to trade in your tent for a cabin at the Adrift Camp. The rest of the day will be yours to explore and to enjoy a delicious dinner (own expense) at one of the local restaurants. 

    Your tour officially ends the next day after breakfast, however you may wish to delay your departure so you can go white water rafting down the Nile, quad biking around the area, or spend some time volunteering at a local community project – all activities are at your own expense.
