The tideless and current-free waters of Lake Malawi make it an ideal destination for watersports.
Boats of all shapes and sizes are available, offering simple individual
hire, short sightseeing trips or full lake safaris lasting some days.
Lake Malawi's beauty is all the more breathtaking when viewed from
the water, and boat rides can be complemented by diving, snorkelling
or swimming and overnight beach camping. You can hire anything from
a pedalo or canoe to a dinghy or hobicat. Multi-day kayaking is becoming
increasingly popular. Sea-going kayaks are used to paddle to
luxury eco-camps on deserted islands, and hidden coves and exotic
beaches become more accessible.
The simplest way to take a float on the lake is in traditional wooden
dug-out canoes – just hitch a ride with a local fisherman.
