Capital of the Western Cape province, Cape Town is one of the most relaxed and beautiful cities in all of Africa. It is nestled between the ocean and South Africa’s most famous landmark, Table Mountain. It's packed with history and cultural importance as well as the fun-seeking attractions of a modern city - The Waterfront is Africa’s most visited tourist destination. Affectionately nicknamed the Mother City, Cape Town has been rated one of the top destinations in the world. It’s also one of the few cities in the world that lies entirely within a national park. This is a city that never sleeps, there is plenty to keep you occupied and at least a few days here are essential. Make sure you have time here if you are on a trip that starts or finishes in Cape Town.

There is a wide range of outdoor activities on offer in Cape Town: hiking, biking, sailing, fishing, surfing and diving, to more extreme adventures like abseiling, kloofing and sandboarding. The Cape Town beaches are legendary - you can spend hours on the beach soaking up the sun. On impossibly trendy Camps Bay beach you can also enjoy a spot of people watching. The city centre has some fine museums, including the thought-provoking District Six Museum. A township tour or a visit to Robben Island completes an all-round cultural experience. Around Cape Town, mountains sink into the sea on the Cape Peninsula and where ostriches and penguins stalk the beaches. Enjoy the intoxicating atmosphere of the vine-covered slopes of the Cape winelands.

The Garden Route is a string of attractive towns, beaches, oyster-rich lagoons and dense forests. The Garden Route region runs along a scenic stretch of coastline beginning in Cape Town and ending in Port Elizabeth, a small city on South Africa’s south east coast. The region has become South Africa’s most popular tourist destination after Cape Town, and it’s not hard to see why. Visitors are drawn year-round to its indigenous forests, freshwater lakes, wetlands, hidden coves and long beaches. The lakes and forests of the Garden Route are also bordered by impressive mountain ranges. The interior is reached via a number of magnificent passes that take you to the wide open spaces of the Karoo. The Garden Route has a range of adventure activities, including the mother of all bungee jumps at Bloukrans Bridge - the highest commercial jump in the world. You can also go blackwater tubing at Storms River Mouth, or climb on the back of an ostrich in Oudtshoorn.
