One of the finest ways
to experience the African bush is on horseback. Riding a horse alongside
the Zambezi River and through the Victoria Falls National Park is
a great way to get close to the game. You will be accompanied by a
guide and tracker - both experienced horsemen - who will bring you
unbelievably close to game, including elephant, buffalo and a large
variety of antelope. Understandably, lion is avoided. Novice and experienced
rides run separately so there is no chance of an experienced rider
being 'slowed down' by novices.
On longer rides you will ride above the Bakota Gorge, with a bird’s
eye view of the Zambezi rapids below Victoria Falls. There are plenty
of opportunities to canter or gallop alongside antelope or perhaps
stand in the middle of a herd of browsing Kudu.
Elephant sightings are frequent and wild dog may be seen during the
rains. On some rides python have even been spotted. The experienced
rides are challenging, and you need to have ridden at least 20 to 30
times in the last two years and be able to have complete control
of your horse.
