Spend 12 days exploring some of Kenya and Tanzania's best parks and reserves.

Begin your journey in Nairobi, Kenya before travelling to Lake Nakuru National Park where you'll have the chance to see a cloud of pink flamingoes on the lake shore.

Continue on to Lake Naivasha where you'll visit Elsamere - the former home of Joy Adamson, naturalist and author of 'Born Free', before you travel to the world-famous Masai Mara National Park for some thrilling wildlife viewing.

Leaving Kenya, make your way to Tanzania's Serengeti National Park and the shores of Lake Victoria, before rounding off your journey with a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater.




DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi
Meals: HB

On arrival in Nairobi, you will meet your guide and fellow travellers at a selected hotel. After a short pre-tour briefing, you can enjoy dinner at your own expense.




Day 2: Head for the Rift Valley
Meals: FB

Set out early and travel in a northerly direction towards the Great Rift Valley.

Descend into the valley and enter the Lake Nakuru National Park where you can enjoy a game drive, keeping an eye out for rhino, leopard, lion and buffalo. Experience the amazing sight as flock upon flock of flamingo gather at the edge of this lake.

Set up camp for the night at Kembu, just below the equator.




Day 3: See Wildlife at Lake Naivasha
Meals: FB

Rise early for a short drive to your next camp on the shores of Lake Naivasha. After setting up camp, spend some time relaxing and watching the hippos play.

In the afternoon, visit Elsamere, the former home of Joy and George Adamson, where you can enjoy afternoon tea and learn more about their remarkable lives.

Joy Adamson is the renowned authoress of 'Born Free' about her experiences raising a lion cub, Elsa.

Return to camp for dinner and some good conversation around the campfire.




Day 4: Drive Through the Wild
Meals: FB

Set out on the drive through some of Kenya's finest wilderness areas. As you drive along the lesser-used roads, you'll pass traditional Maasai villages and spectacular scenery.

Once at your camp, just outside the renowned Masai Mara National Park, enjoy a hot shower and dinner before turning in for the night.




Day 5: Visit the Masai Mara
Meals: FB

Set out early for a full day of wildlife viewing in the Masai Mara, known for its large populations of predators.

Enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the Mara River where you can see crocodile and hippo.




Day 6: Cross the Border to Tanzania
Meals: FB

Leaving the Masai Mara, cross the border into Tanzania and descend into the Great Rift Valley, heading for Africa's largest lake - Lake Victoria.

Explore the bustling markets that can be found here, trade with local fisherman, or simply relax and take it all in. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant (own expense) before returning to your camp at the waters’ edge.




Day 7: Experience the Serengeti
Meals: FB

Today takes you to the Serengeti National Park, where you can enjoy sightings of the large concentration of wildlife that is found here, including vast herds of plains game, predators and prolific birdlife.

You will spend the night at the active Seronera campsite.




Day 8: Head for Ngorongoro
Meals: FB

Enjoy another game drive in the Serengeti before you enter the Ngorongoro Conservancy, enjoying a game drive en route to your next camp.

You will spend the night at Simba Camp on the edge of the crater where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the crater below.




Day 9: Explore the Crater
Meals: FB

Descend into the crater shortly after daybreak for a game drive and the chance to see the rare black rhino as well as a variety of other species.

Return to camp for lunch before you make your way to your next camp - Engaruka, where you will have the chance to learn more about the Maasai people and their way of life.




Day 10: Get to Know the Maasai
Meals: FB

Set out on foot to explore the Maasai village and learn more about the traditions and culture of the Maasai people. You may even get the chance to see the traditional dancing.




Day 11: Travel to Arusha
Meals: FB

Another early start takes you towards Arusha at the foot of Mount Meru. Spend the afternoon in this vibrant town and trawl the bustling markets for curios.

Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant (own expense) before turning in for the night.




Day 12: Make Your Way Home
Meals: BB

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the shuttle terminal for your transfer to Nairobi. The scenery along the way is spectacular, and if the weather permits, you might even catch a glimpse of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.
