From the Masai Mara in Kenya to the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, experience wildlife and spectacular scenery before making your way to Zanzibar for some island relaxation.
DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara Meals: HB
Begin your journey in the buzzing city of Nairobi, before setting off across the Great Rift Valley to the famed Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Set up your camp where you will spend the next two nights.
Day 2: Masai Mara Game Reserve Meals: FB
Explore this park on morning and afternoon game drives, spotting the wide variety of wildlife found here. Look forward to seeing some, if not all, of the Big 5 and an impressive array of birdlife.
Day 3: Masai Mara to Nairobi Meals: FB
Return to Nairobi, crossing the Rift Valley again, where you will spend the night before continuing your journey.
Visit Lake Naivasha, home to an amazing variety of birdlife, as well as hippo.
Day 4: Nairobi to Arusha Meals: FB
Cross the border into Tanzania, travelling to the town of Arusha, at the foot of Mount Meru. Visit the colourful and vibrant markets before setting up camp just outside the city on the vast Masai plains.
Day 5: Mesereni Snake Park Meals: FB
Visit the clock tower in Arusha, the halfway point between Cape Town and Cairo.
Take a walk or a camel ride to the nearby Masai village, and visit the Meserani Snake Park where you have the chance to get up close to these slithery creatures.
Prepare for your journey to the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater.
Day 6: Serengeti National Park Meals: FB
Travel to the sprawling grasslands of the Serengeti National Park.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive in this wildlife-rich reserve, home to a full predator contingent, including cheetah, lion, hyena and leopard.
Day 7: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater Rim Meals: FB
Enjoy a morning game drive before making your way from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater. Stop en route at the historic Olduvai Gorge - a paleontological treasure trove.
Spend the night on the rim of this famous crater, taking in the far-reaching view.
Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Meals: FB
Rise early and descend into the crater for some excellent game viewing in the crater. See elephant, hippo, wildebeest and buffalo, as well as predators such as lion, leopard and cheetah.
Return to Arusha where you'll spend the night before embarking on the journey to Dar es Salaam.
Day 9: Arusha to Dar es Salaam Meals: FB
Set off early for Dar es Salaam. As you travel, keep an eye out for the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.
On arrival in Dar es Salaam, set up camp near the beach just outside this bustling city. Set about exploring the local markets, searching for curios and souvenirs.
Day 10: Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar Meals: FB
A ferry ride will transport you to the 'Spice Island' of Zanzibar.
Explore the vibrant fish market, embark on a tour of the historic Stone Town, and learn more about the island's most famous export on a Spice Tour.
Day 11: Relax in Zanzibar Meals: FB
Spend some time on Nungwi, one of the island's most idyllic beaches, or dive into the sparkling waters and swim with dolphins. Take part in some of the many water-based activities that the island has to offer, including snorkelling, scuba-diving and sailing.
Visit nearby Prison Island, home to enormous tortoises and beautiful beaches, and enjoy a Prison Island Tour.
Day 12: Spend a Day in the Sun Meals: FB
Spend the day at leisure, taking part in the wide variety of activities available. Enjoy snorkelling and diving, or browse the markets for curios and souvenirs.
Alternatively, spend the day basking in the sun on one of the amazing beaches.
Day 13: Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam Meals: FB
Return by ferry to Dar es Salaam where your journey reaches its end.
