For the sake of practicality, meals in the Livingstone/Victoria Falls area are restricted to breakfasts. This allows you to take on half day or full day activities - some of which include lunch - without having to be back with the group at mealtimes.
The Waterfront camp has a beautiful restaurant, overlooking the Zambezi, which offers a good selection of reasonably priced meals and snacks throughout the day. We suggest you allow US$15 per day.
Your tour leader will help book accommodation and advise on activities available prior to your arrival in Zanzibar, but how you spend your time there is up to you.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Days 1-3: Kick Back in Beautiful Zanzibar Meals: FB
Dar es Salaam is Tanzania's main port and a hub of commerce and industry. Set up camp on a beach just outside the city and spend some time exploring its vibrant markets while you prepare to head out to Zanzibar.
Zanzibar is characterised by winding cobbled alleyways, lush tropical forests, and sandy white beaches lined with leafy palms, but it has an intriguing past to go along with its tranquil beauty. The island was once a major trading centre for spices and slaves, as well as a base for many of the 19th century explorers who journeyed to Africa - including the likes of Burton, Speke and Livingstone.
A variety of activities can be enjoyed during your stay. Take the popular Spice Tour, relax on the beach, or go snorkelling and diving off beautiful coral reefs in the company of flamboyantly coloured tropical fish.
Days 4-10: Enjoy Water Sports at Lake Malawi Meals: FB
Cross back onto the African mainland and spend a further night in Dar es Salaam. Then drive across country towards Malawi, passing through the compact Mikumi National Park en route.
The enormous Lake Malawi covers almost a fifth of the country's area, providing a livelihood for many Malawians - regarded by travellers as some of the friendliest people in Africa.
Camp beside the sparkling waters of the lake for a few days, mingling with the locals, relaxing on the beach and enjoying a variety of water sports.
Days 11-16: Excitement at Victoria Falls Meals: FB
Leave Lake Malawi and head into Zambia. Cross the mighty Luangwa River and pass through the capital city of Lusaka, continuing on towards Livingstone.
Arrive here on day 13, set up camp on the lush banks of the Zambezi River, and get ready to visit the adrenaline capital of Africa - Victoria Falls.
At 100 metres high and 1.7 kilometres wide, the Falls are one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and there's no shortage of excitement on offer here. From world-class white-water rafting and bungee jumping, to exhilarating hippo-dodging canoe trips and spectacular microlight and helicopter flights, this place is a highlight of any African safari.
Days 17-22: Go on Safari in Chobe & Kruger Meals: FB
From Livingstone, journey to Chobe National Park. Chobe is home to magnificent flora and fauna, but it is most famous for its staggering elephant populations. Some 40,000 of these majestic beasts are thought to roam the area.
A late afternoon cruise along the Chobe River provides the chance to spot hippo and crocodile basking in the shallows as elephant and antelope quench their thirst. It is also at this time of the evening that leopard and lion slowly rise from their slumber in anticipation of a fruitful night's hunting.
After a night in Chobe, cross the Kalahari of southern Botswana on the way to South Africa and the world-famous Kruger National Park. Spend 2 days here and embark on morning and afternoon drives, as well as a thrilling night safari. On the final day of the tour you leave the Kruger National Park and travel through the scenic Mpumalanga region, arriving in Johannesburg in the early evening.
