Any visitor to this region of East Africa cannot fail to be in awe of Mount Kilimanjaro, standing majestically on the border of Kenya and Tanzania.
You have probably seen all the photos and dreamed of it, so now experience the thrill of actually climbing 5,895m to the pinnacle of Africa's highest mountain.
Come and view the world from Uhuru âfreedomâ Peak. Watch the sun rise off the roof of Africa!
DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Spend Your First Night in Moshi
Departing Nairobi in your shuttle coach, you travel to your hotel via Tanzania's safari capital, Arusha. Your overnight stay in Moshi is at the Springlands Hotel.
The shuttle bus will deliver you to the hotel, where you will be met for your briefing and pre-departure meeting.
Day 2: Climb Through the Rainforest Meals: FB
After an early start to get to Kilimanjaro National Park, you climb through rainforest for your 1st night on this awesome mountain.
Your first hut is set in a forest clearing at an altitude of 2,745m.
Day 3: Round the Base of Maundi Crater Meals: FB
Leaving the rainforest behind, you round the base of the Maundi Crater, then hike through beautiful open moorlands.
Today's hike is about 6 hours and gives you time to acclimatise a little more in preparation for your ascent to Africa's highest peak. Tonight you sleep at an altitude of 3,660m in A-framed huts set on a small plateau.
Day 4: Camp Out at Kibo Hut Meals: FB
Today you enter the stark Alpine desert habitat. Trekking over the 'saddle' between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, you arrive at the Kibo hut, at an altitude of 4,701m .
Be sure to get to bed early as you still have some way to go before sunrise in your final ascent to the summit tomorrow.
Day 5: Set off for Gilman's Point Meals: FB
A very early morning climb takes you via Gilman's Point, on the rim of the crater, to Uhuru Peak.
Gaze over Tanzania and Kenya from Africa's highest point as the morning sun allows you to take in this magnificent sight.
Leaving Uhuru Peak, you descend Kilimanjaro to Horombo Hut (5,700m) for a well-deserved and albeit tired celebration.
Day 6: Descend Back to Moshi Meals: BB
Your last day on Kilimanjaro takes you via the Marangu Gate back to your hotel.
Today's hike is about 6 hours and, together with the memory of yesterday's achievement, you can look forward to some good food and a hot shower at the end.
Day 7: Arrive in Nairobi
A morning departure in your shuttle coach from Moshi takes you back to Kenya's capital by late afternoon, where your safari comes to an end.
