Experience the cultures, wildlife & spectacular scenery of South Africa on this 18-day overland adventure tour.
Travel through the scenic Panorama Route in Mpumalanga before reaching South Africa's renowned Kruger National Park.
Head south into Swaziland and then explore the World Heritage Site of St. Lucia in Zululand. Make your way down the Dolphin Coast into the Drakensberg Mountains before experiencing the wonders of the Garden Route.
Enjoy stops in Knysna and the Tsitsikamma Forest before arriving in cosmopolitan Cape Town - a total adventure.
DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Travel Through the Panorama Route Meals: D
Departing early from Johannesburg, the 'City of Gold', you travel to Mpumalanga. Along the way you visit Dullstroom, traverse Robbers Pass and spend time in the quaint gold-mining pioneer village of Pilgrims Rest.
The scenic Panorama Route has many amazing geological formations including Bourke's Luck Potholes and the 3 Rondavels, towering above the Blyde River Canyon.
Finally you wind your way down the escarpment to the lowveld bushveld where you overnight within the Balule Nature Reserve, bordering the Kruger Park.
Dinner is cooked on the open fire, and your first day on tour comes to an end as you fall asleep to the sounds of the wild.
Day 2: Camp in the Bush Meals: FB
Being a privately owned property, your bush camp allows you the freedom of walking amongst the game, and of viewing the animals in their natural habitat from an open vehicle with both day and night drives.
All major game species are prevalent, including the renowned 'Big 5'.
In the morning you set off on a 3-hour guided game walk with a tracker, stopping regularly to learn more about the ways of the bush. You return to camp for a late morning brunch after which there's time to relax around the swimming pool.
In the afternoon you set out on a game drive, which develops into an extensive night drive. In the evening you enjoy a bush âbraaiâ (South African barbeque).
Day 3: Head for Hazyview Meals: FB
A leisurely start today sees you travelling through the rural Bushbuck ridge area to the sleepy settlement of Hazyview.
Your log cabin is spectacularly situated on stilts in indigenous subtropical forest on the banks of the Sabie River.
This afternoon you will have time to relax at the bird hide, or enjoy swimming and forest walks.
Day 4: Explore the Kruger National Park Meals: FB
Leaving Hazyview early, you travel a short distance to the world-renowned Kruger National Park.
You spend the entire day viewing animals and searching for Africa's 'Big 5' - lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino - from the high vantage point of the well-equipped truck.
Today you have a picnic lunch and spend the night in one of the park's rest camps.

Days 5-6: Travel South to Swaziland & Zululand Meals: FB
Travelling south through the Kingdom of the Swaziland your journey takes you into an area of spectacular scenery, with numerous traditional homesteads and curio markets.
Then you enter Zululand, the area once ruled by the famed Shaka Zulu. The region is home to a variety of game reserves and impressive sugar cane fields.
You spend the next 2 nights in a rustic camp situated in a sand forest on a private game reserve adjoining the World Heritage Site of St Lucia.
During your stay you explore the reserve go on both a game walk and a game drive in open vehicles. You also enjoy a Zulu cultural experience.

Day 7: Meander Down the Dolphin Coast Meals: FB
A short drive today, takes you to one of the world's finest coastlines, where the unrelenting waves of the Indian Ocean continuously pound deserted beaches.
You spend the next night at an inn, situated on the beach. Your time here is spent soaking up the sun and simply enjoying the beach and warm ocean.
Your day is rounded off with a traditional fish braai on the inn's patio.
Days 8-9: Explore the Drakensberg Meals: FB
You start the day with a visit to the holiday city of Durban, where you have the option of visiting the Ushaka Marine World or exploring the Golden Mile and the traditional market.
Then you travel back inland to the majestic Drakensberg mountain range, known as the "Barrier of Spears". Lunch today is at your own expense in Durban.
On reaching the foothills you transfer to a 4X4 vehicle, and then enjoy an exciting drive on mountain tracks up to the inn, where you spend 2 nights in cosy log cabins.
You spend your time here hiking and exploring the wonders of this National Heritage Site. Pony trekking is also available.

Day 10: Sleep On a Dairy Farm Meals: HB
After a 4x4 transfer back to your vehicle, you cross the Oliviershoek Pass to view the turquoise waters of Sterkfontein Dam.
Then it's on through the Golden Gate National Park, well known for its towering sandstone cliffs and wealth of unique wildlife.
Lunch today is at your own expense in the arty village of Clarens, where you will have time to explore the art galleries and other unique attractions. You spend the night on a working dairy farm near the town of Ladybrand.
Days 11-12: Head into the Great Karoo Meals: FB
Exploring lesser-known gravel roads, you head into the dry Karoo interior. You travel via quaint and remote farming villages including Nieu Bethesda to your inn.
Your home for the next 2 nights is in stone cottages on a traditional farmstead set against the Sneeuberg Mountains.
During your stay here, you can enjoy an extensive walk in the mountainous terrain, home to a variety of interesting plants, animals and birdlife.
Days 13-15: Follow the Garden Route Meals: HB
After an early start, you head for the pioneer town of Graaff-Reinet where you spend time visiting the various museums, strolling around the town, meeting the locals and viewing the unique architecture.
You then cross the mighty Outeniqua Mountains, the barrier between the dry interior and the lush coastal Garden Route area.
You arrive at a secluded inn where you will spend the next 3 nights in log cabins hidden deep in the heart of the forest. Your days here are spent exploring this renowned region and its many attractions.
You walk in the forest in search of the elusive Knysna Lourie, and travel the old passes road to the Tsitsikamma coastal National Park where you will walk part of the acclaimed "Otter Trail".
On your return journey, those more daring members may try the world's highest bungee jump at 216 metres, or if you'd prefer you can go on a sea kayak trip (own expense).
You visit sun-kissed beaches, spend time in the old woodcutter town of Knysna and enjoy a boat trip around the Knysna Lagoon and through the Heads in search of dolphins and whales (weather permitting). One lunch and one dinner will be at your own expense.
Day 16-18: Reach Beautiful Cape Town Meals: BB
Leaving Knysna in the afternoon, you travel to the renowned De Hoop Nature Reserve, known for its towering white sand dunes and unique animal species.
After exploring this fascinating reserve, you return to the coast to follow the "Whale Route" and the Hottentots Holland Mountains. Arriving in the "Mother City" of Cape Town in the late afternoon, you check into an inn, which is situated on the Sea Point beachfront.
Cape Town is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in the world, in which you spend 2 days visiting Cape Point, Hout Bay, the Waterfront, secluded beaches, a wine farm and many more highlights. You can also hike up Table Mountain.
Your tour ends at 4pm on day 18.
